Your Rights as a Consumer

Knowing the 2026 DMCCA rules to protect your money.

The New "Clear Pricing" Standard

Drip Pricing Ban: As of April 2026, the CMA has begun enforcing strict fines against "drip pricing." Retailers must now show the total cost (including mandatory booking fees or service charges) at the very beginning of your purchase, not just at the checkout.

The 30-Day Refund Rule

Under the Consumer Rights Act, if an item is faulty, poor quality, or not as described, you have a legal right to a full refund if returned within 30 days. After 30 days, the retailer has one chance to repair or replace it before a refund is triggered.

AI and Your Rights

Interacting with a chatbot? New 2026 guidance states that companies are 100% responsible for the promises made by their AI agents. If a bot promises you a refund or a discount, the company is legally bound to honour it.
